    six shoe - makers in the district - almost one in every village.
    They had a lot of old names on the pieces put on shoes - taoibhín a piece on the side. bairichín - a piece on the top.
    Sometimes the trade follows from father to son. Patrick Kelly, Colmanstown was a shoe - maker and his son was a shoe - maker. Shoes were not as plentiful long ago as they are now.
