    There is a lot of superstition connected with the mag, such as,
    "One for sorrow,
    Two for joy
    Three for a wedding,
    Four for a boy.
    Five for silver,
    Six for gold,
    Seven for a secret that never was told
    She is nto a good songster.
    "The Curlew"
    The curlew remains in this district all year. She goes to the mountain in April and lays her eggs and brings out her young. Then she returns to the lake.
    Curlews get very bold when a storm is coming.
    "The Blackbird"
    The blackbird does not migrate. She retreats to the woods ont he approach of Summer and returns to the gardens and hedges around the house on the approach of Winter.
    She builds her nest in a whitethorn bush. She lays five or six eggs. She is a good songster.
    "The Goldfinch"
