    they used to carry their shoes under their arm and when they would be getting near the town they would put on the shoes, and when they would have their shopping done and on the way home they would take them off and carry them again as the shoes used to be hurting them and they weren't used to wearing shoes at home.
    When they had their day's work done they would wash their feet in warm water in a metal pot as there were no bathbasins or buckets in those days and when they would be throwing out the water after sunset they would say in Irish "Huggy, Huggy" leave the way of the dirty fearing
