  1. In this district we have a great many birds. The robin is a very tame bird. Her colour is red and brown. The robin builds her nest in a sod ditch. The robin lays four eggs. The cuckoo lays one egg, and she gets another bird to hatch the egg. The cuckoo is a very clever bird. The cuckoo comes to Ireland in Summer and in Winter she goes to Africa.
    The cornrake is a very nice bird. Her colour is brown. She lays six eggs. Here is a rhyme about the corncrake.
