  1. At the beginning of Spring the farmer plants his crops. The principal crop sown is the potatoes. This is the way in which the farmer sows the potatoes around this district, first he leaves a scoring rope down where he means to have a ridge, and then he scores along the rope with a "loy". Then he puts out manure with "pardogs". A "pardog" is made like a creel with rods, but the bottom of the "pardog" is made from wood and it can be opened in order to let out the manure without taking them off the donkey.
