  1. Potatoes are the most common crop in the district. In Spring the farmer plants the potatoes. First of all he gets a scoring line and a spade or boy. After this he scores the field and he puts farm-yard manure out on the field in order to make the ground richer. Then he turns the sods and plants the potatoes. He covers them with clay and he leaves there until the little stalks come up. Then he puts more clay on them. I June the farmer sprays the potatoes with blue stone and washing soda in order to keep the blight away I October when the potatoes are ripe the
