    a bottle of whiskey. This was produced in order to put the girls father in good humor. This was called "match making".
    V It was also a custom one time that a crowd of men would enter a house during the night, and carry off a girl. The girl would probably know about this beforehand, and would be married next morning. This was called "stealing a girl".
    VI It was considered lucky that a bride should wear for her marriage attire, "Something old, + something new, something borrowed and something blue.
