One of them noticed water oozing from the side of the bank. They cleared away some of the sand and clay and a fine flow of water trickled down and formed a well which a priest blessed. He called it "St Bride's Well". They put three steps down to it and also a drinking cup. The village people were delighted with the discovery of the water.
There is a well out in Kilclooney, called St. Grellan's Well. It is situated on the Railway Road about two miles from Ballinasloe. It is seldom people go there and there are no special times for visiting it.
There is also a well at the back of St. Michael's Church in Ballinasloe. It sprang up of it's own accord. It was blessed and called St. Michael's Well after the Patron of the Church.
