There is a fine town Hall once the Bride well where prisoners were congined while waiting to be sent to Castlebar jail for offences against the laws. The Christians Brothers have a house and school nearly opposet the hall. Their building was first a Charter school established to prosylatise or make Protestants of the pupils who attended it, but the faithful people set up hedge Schools to which they sent their children though oppressed by bigotry and landlords.
