   I. Twas midday in Falcarragh When an armed army came, To wreck the homes of Irishmen, And uphold Englands fame. II. With Batons and with Crowbars, They were bent on having sport, But what a great surprise they got, That day at Doogan's Fort. III. When Major Mends called Soldiers there, He wanted bloody sport, And cried aloud "surrender". Or I'll shoot all in the Fort. Doogan's Fort is over at Ardsmore on the other side of Gortahork. The people who were in the Fort at the time of the Land War build in the doors, and closed the windos, and piled in the forks, and graips and big stones when they heard that the soldiers were coming to put them out of their houses for not paying the rent.
