Nearly every fortnight families of them are to be seen camped on the sides of the roads and in lanes. Here are the names of some of the families that visit this locality.

The Reillys, The Smiths,
The Maloneys, The Stocks,
The Donnaghers, The Gillons
The Freels, The Mc Hughs
The McGoarys, The Johnsons
Some of them are very bold and when they come into a house they ask for nearly everything they can think off [sic]. Here are some of the things they ask for, tea, sugar, eggs, butter, bread, milk, bacon, potatoes and turf. Some of the men make tins and the women and children go round the houses selling them.
