  1. Hugh Mc Guire was the best mower in the Ballintra district. His quickness in mowing was due to the fact that he was also the best sharpener of a scythe. After the first sharpening in the morning he always left the sharping stone some place about the middle of the field. He would ot sharpen the scythe again until he reached that place.
    Robert Harron of Ballinahillew who is over seventy years of age could still out-walk most of the young people. He still walks to Ballyshannon.
