2. Holy Wells

   

   Roinn Roinn Postáil

   There is only one holy well in our parish. It is situated in the mouth of a bog known as The Holy Well Bog in the townland of Glenaglough.
   People used visit it in olden times for cures for sickness but this rule is no longer carried out. Visits were usually carried out before sunrise. Several people were cured of weak eyesight.
   The story is told that when my grandfather was thirty three years of age he tried to drain the bog and change the course of the water. After the first day working in the bog he
