    ''Earbal Fada,'' ''Horney,'' ''Polly,'' are names of cows. A Byre is a name for a cow house. The cows are tied onto posts with chains. In the cow house there is a place for every cow, and each cow knows her own place. A horse shoe is sometimes hung outside the cow house for luck. The sign of the cross is made on the back of the cow with the last of the milk after milking her.
