    The night Berney Shanley was dying in Kilworth.

    Berney was just dead. After a while he asked did any of 'em knock and they said no. None of them came outside the door.

  2. There was a woman who lived in Coolmoham wan time; and she was wan May morning at the little bridge of Coolmohan with a little cup in her hand and she taoscing the water, and she saying some words at the same time. The priest came on her while she was at it.
    He asked her what she was at; and she had to tell him. Well, the priest changed her into a bird: "Now" says he, "stay there until Monday"
    She was a little bird hopping around and all the while calling for Monday
    On the Monday morning a lot of the neighbours gathered around and the priest came. They saw the little bird hopping around the well.
    "Could any of ye tell me knows," says the priest "what kind of a bird that is?"
    Some said it was this and some said that but of course none guessed the right thing
    "No," said the priest, "You're all wrong". He took out his book and commenced to read and the bird changed back into the old
