Frank O'Hare says that the Anaghlee River was spoken of by the old people...

Frank O'Hare says that the ANAGHLEE River was spoken of by the old people in his neighbourhood as the ERNE River. People north of it were said to live "below the water".

    KILLYCLEARE WOOD
There was formerly a wood around the lake now known locally as Killycleare Lake but on the O.S. Map as KEHERNAGHKILLY Lough. This wood was known by some name which old people said meant "The Wood of the Plunder".

    AN O'REILLY "BIG HOUSE"
or castle was on Barnagrow hill near where Bob Young now lives. O'Hare thinks the song about the Lough Sillen drowning was composed by a Trainor from the Diamond, a place between Kingscourt and Shercock.

    O'REILLY'S CASTLE IN BOAGH
Near BOAGH FORT there was an O'Reilly Castle which fell into the hands of a BLUNKETT ? O'Reilly, who lost the land, went to France and became a great lawyer. He once returned to his native place and came along riding on horseback towards his former residence. The way he had gone in his youth was now a bleach-green with linen spread on it over which he rode. Blunket's servants wanted to prevent him but Blunket said:-
Let him alone, he could put me out of my place if he liked".
There is said to be an underground passage from where the castle stood to the river below it.
