    It seem strange that this well should be dedicated to St. Brendan. Tradition has it that on one occasion as St. Brendan was on his way to visit St. Senan when he had his oratory on Mutton Island he rested on this spot and afterwards that the well appeared. The fact that an ancient road passed that way would confirm that tradition to a certain extent.
