On the night of the big wind 1839 there was a space in Pat Slowey's Drumskelt and they had a half barrel of porter

On the night of the big wind 1839 there was a spree in Pat Slowey's Drumskelt and they had a 1/2 barrell of porter There was a big crowd of men drinking at it. One man went out about two o clock in the night + he found it was very windy He went back + told them they should go home about their business. They took his advice + they all left. When they went out on the street the end was blown off the house in which they were drinking. The table + glasses + bottles were broken. They all went home to bed.
One man Ter. Mc Entee was also at the spree. He slept in a loft with a porringer of water. He was in bad a few minutes when he heard a loud rattle about the street but he was too tired to get up to see what it was. The next morning he saw the sun shining in on him. He looked up + saw nothing but the couples about him. The wind had taken the roof of the house. When he got up he looked to see what had made the noise but it was the buckets + cans + blown about the streets by the Big Wind
