  1. Potatoes are grown on every farm in our district. About one third of the land is sown under potatoes every year.
    Sometimes the ground is manured before it is turned up. Manure is put on the ground, when it is "coped". The ground that is "coped" is called lea ground. This ground is sometimes dug with a loy.
    The potatoes are grown in ridges and in drills. In making drills a plough is used.
    There are two scores made with the plough and the potatoes are dropped into the split between the scores. Then the potatoes are covered and the drill is made.
