  1. Percy French, is the author of the songs, "The Mountains of Mourne", "Phil the Fluters Ball", "Come back Paddy Reilly to Ballyjamesduff".
    He also wrote many others.
    He is a native of Cavan, and was born in Drumkeen House, now part of Loreto College and grew up to boyhood there. His father was Estate Agent for several landlords.
    It was after his departure from Cavan that he became well known as a song writer. He lived about forty years ago.
    There is another port named Mr Dolan who used to live in Upper Main St. He used to write parables about people and things.
