- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Saturday night there was a terrible thunderstorm. My father Thomas Dalton, Bracklin, Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath and my aunt Mrs. Scally, Bracklin, Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath were going to Raheenquill, Tyrrellspass, Co. Westmeath to stand for a niece of theirs. They did not go in time for the christening.
- About twenty years ago there was a very big thunderstorm It was in the year 1918. It was in the month of July and it was on a Saturday. The day was very dark. There were three big cattle killed on MacElroy's, Bracklin, Kilbeggan, County Westmeath. There was a bucket outside of our door and it was split in two halves. There was a big reek of hay turned with lightning on Mr. Hodgens, Rahugh, Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath. The people could smell it burning about two miles away.Collected by Celia Dalton (11) of Bracklin, Kilbeggan, from her father Thomas (50).
