- There was a landlord by the name of Mr Chapman over this district which was called Float district. Mr. Chapman and his ancestors were over this district for nearly three hundred years. They were looked upon as very good landlords. Mr. Chapman hardly ever evicted anyone and some of the people that lived in this district owed him a couple of year's rent. Some of the other people who owed him more than a couple of year's rent were evicted and they went to foreign countries. Mr. Chapman got this district through Cromwell. There was a man for collecting the rents for Mr. Chapman and if some of the poor people had not enough of money for the collector he would sell a pig or cattle in a fair or to some of his neighbours and then he would pay the collector. Some times he would give a calf to the collector.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
