    In days gone by there were many sorts of bread made which are not made nowadays The Bere breaad was made from a kind of barley and a little flour The Boxty bread was made from scraped potatoes raw mixed with flour Pancakes were made out of eggs flour buttermilk or beestings Oaten bread was made from moistened meal and water & this was left for a while to rise before it was cooked This bred was very hard to get to stick together It was cut in triangles& two sods of turf were put standing on the clean hearth before the fire The bread was then put lying against facing the side fire When it was cooked on that side it was turned to cook the other side This bread was very brittle when it was cooked and it was very hard to eat but it gave great exercise to the teeth and so we find that they
