- There are many emblems worn on certain feasts in this locality. On St Bridget's feast the old people used to make a cross of rushes in honour of St Bridget. It used to be hung up in the houses and in the out houses. On St Patrick's day shamrocks are worn. Long ago the old people used to put a piece of furze's stick into the fire and put a piece of cloth on their shoulder. With the furze stick they used to make the Sign of the Cross three times. This custom has now died out. On May Eve certain branches and flowers are gathered. They are not brought into the house till May morning early before the sun rises. Then they are hung up in the house and the out houses. On Palm Sunday people pick palm branches and the priest blesses them before the Masses on that day. They were a little piece of the palm in their coats and in their hats. They hang more of it in their houses. It is(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
