    The fairs are usually held in town now. Many years ago cattle were bought at the farmer's house's. The fair in Rathdowney is held in the Square. When people buy cattle toll has to be paid on them. When an animal is sold luck money is given according to the size and value of the beast. There used to be a fair held in Errill on the 11th of March but it is not carried on now
