    He was leading a company of 100 men at Ballinahinch. He was sent to keep back the cavalry. Before the fight he asked the Catholics among his men to kneel down and say a prayer. Only six of the hundred knelt - the others being all Presbyterians. A second batch came on them and Maguires people had to flee to the mountains of Down. Maguire got home safely.
