    He was leading a company of 100 men at Ballinahinch. He was sent to keep back the cavalry. Before the fight he asked the Catholics among his men to kneel down and say a prayer. Only six of the hundred knelt - the others being all Presbyterians. He adopted the tactics of Owen Rue at Clones - his pike men divided - even numbers to one side, odd to the other and managed to pull the riders off the horses. A second batch came on them and Maguires people had to flee to the mountains of Down. Maguire got home safely.
    Peter saw him and heard him talk of the fight. He died in 185 He left no male descendants.
