  1. In days of old people had names on their fields.
In my farm there is a field called Barney's Field. This name has come from a man called Barney Liney who lived there (in) his little cottage. He was the last weaver of this district. The foundation of his cottage is there this very day.
There is another field called the Fairy Garden; the Fairies lived there, and there are two big rocks in it around which they danced in summer evenings and moonlight nights.
The name of my Townland is "Leát Mhuine" - the grey shrubberies, because long ago before the land round here was tilled it was covered with low bushes which were about a foot high and whose leaves were a greyish green colour. In some waste places in this locaity they are still to be seen.
The name of my Parish is Cíll Molaise. This was called so because the saint who founded the abbey was called Molaise and ever since his church is called Cill Molaise.
