The waters were too strong for him and the good faithful and wise dog was swept away in the raging waters. When this terrible flood reached the low-lands it did awful destruction, It tore away soft clay and loose stones and bored big holes in the cultivated green fields. It took the farmers years to fill them up. In one place the river changes its course and dug a new course for itself through John Morrison farm. Farther down it did great destruction. It uprooted trees that
   grew on the banks of the river and it brought all the stones-wall that were built near it. There was a house built near the river
