In the olden times weddings were performed in a different manner than they are nowadays. The couple who were to be married were always accompanied by crowds of the nearest relations to the chapel. These people sang songs on the way as it was the custom at that time. The "best man" remained in the house until the intended bride and bridegroom were almost at the church.
