    that he would fall asleep by the fire and that she would make tea for herself and leave a cup of it on his knee.
    That night this man sat waiting at the fire with his loaded gun on his knee. Suddenly he became very sleepy and he remembered nothing more until he awoke to find a cup of tea on his knee. The house was empty. When he looked for his butter he found it was gone.
    He summoned Katherine to court for stealing his butter. When cross examined she admitted taking the butter. "Ay, and damned bad butter it was" says she. She got a month in prison.
    It is a strange thing that no person can cross the Big Field in which Katherine's house was, after dark without going astray.
    It has happened to people many times and most people avoid it after dark. This is the same field in which the rock with the track of St. Patrick's knee is to be seen.
