(there were three sheebeens there at the time). On several occasions some of the young bullies of the place vexed Phil by saying they were as good as he was any day. Phil always put an end to this kind of talk by taking these heroes in pairs and knocking their heads together, would lay them out unconscious. If he didn't want to be so harsh, he would squeeze his challenger until he roared with pain and begged him to release him. Phil was never known to be beaten in his life and the grip of his hands and strength of his arms, even while an old man, was tremendous. In his prime he was 6'6" tall. He was knock-kneed and stooped in the shoulders.
    5. Phil had a sister who carries sixty stone of oats round a room in her arms. The oats were in two sacks (30st each) tied together with leather reins.
