  1. Factories
    Long ago in Tully - a townsland situated in the Parish of Kilmonaghan, the County of Offaly and the barony of Kilcumreagh there was a woolen factory. It was owned by Mr. Gibbons. A heavy woolen sort of material called frieze that was woven there. At times three hundred people and more were employed. But in later years the machinery got out of order and the factory got run down. After Mr Gibbons's death Mr. Gaffney who was his foreman ran it for a few years and then it closed down altogether.
