  1. A Mill
    The ruins of an old Mill are left in a place called Clavins. It is situated between Horseleap and Moate about one mile and a half from Horseleap and about three mile from Moate. It is in the County of Offaly in the townsland of Newtown. On one of the big walls that still remains is printed "built in 1782". Clavins got its name from its owner Mr John Clavin.
    The mill was used for making the Wheat into flour and oats into meal and other grain was ground for cattle. That was the only sort of business that was carried on in it.
    On one occasion the mill was burned down by accident
