The very Rev. John Dunne was parish priest...

    290
    (Denis O Connor Monbeg, Ballindaggin
    From his father Edward)
The very Rev. John Dunne was parish priest of Ballindaggin for seventeen years. He was a fairly aged man and in his latter years his nephew Fr. Dunne also did duty for him in Ballindaggin. He lived in Monbeg in the house now occupied by the O'Connor family. It was in the old church that he celebrated Mass which is now levelled to the ground and nothing remains but the holy water font in the middle of the old graveyard. Old Father Dunne died in 1859 and his successor Father Roche built the present church in Ballindaggin.
