The castle is situated in the western end of the town on the right hand side. It is a square stone castle not very high. It has long narrow windows with no frames or panes of glass in them. There is a door facing Tullamore. Many years ago there was a dungeon at the back of the dwelling house. Prisoners uses=d to be kept in this dungeon. The house is a two storied one. It has a slated roof & consists of six rooms.
Very little information can be obtained about this castle. Nobody seems to know anything about it but during the time of the battle, this village must have been an interesting place for probable many a struggle was made in it.
This castle is now in the property of a small farmer called McRussel. There is about 12 or 13 acres of land connected with the castle.
Here are some of the people who lived in the castle:- Brydon's, Foxes, Power's Dignam's, McMullen's
