  1. In some district certain days are looked upon as being or unlucky Only on some days of the week certain remedies for ailments applied. People are loath to begin work such as ploughing, house-building and changing from house to house on Saturday. It is said that "Saturday's flitting makes a short sitting." The cold early days of April are referred to as the "Days of the Old Cow," borrowed by March from April "to skin an old cow."
