  1. I live in the townland of Mitchelstown, in the parish of Togher. There are seven families in my townland and there are thirty-three people living in it at present. There are three old people living in this townland, they do not know Irish but they are good Engish story-tellers.
    Their names and addresses are - Wm Heavey, Mitchelstown, Dunany, Dunleer, Co Louth, and D. and J. Courtney from the same address.
    In former times there were about twice as many houses in Mitchelstown as there are now. There are three old houses in ruins now. Some of the people of Mitchelstown emigrated to America in days gone by.
    The land of Mitchelstown is good and is very suitable for tillage. There are but a few trees growing in this townland. There is a narrow, shallow, river separating Mitchelstown from Port. This river is
