  1. The fair is not held in this district, but it is held in Carlingford about one hundred yards from the grave-yard. It is at a cross-roads.
This is a special fair-ground for the fair and all kind of live-stock are bought and sold there.
All the country people who are selling at the fair go with their live-stock in carts. Men from all parts of the country come to the fair to buy.
When a bargain is been made, a man comes and makes up the "differ" between them. When a person sells stock they ask luck money from the buyer. This is called a luck penny. It is nearly always about a half-crown or five shillings.
The person who gets the luck penny spits on it for luck.
