    Needless to say, there was no beating of the team while he was on the end of the rope.
    Michael Maher of Clonakenny was a noted high jumper. He was often seen to jump his own height, and higher.
    Michael Meehan of Clonakenny was a noted man for threshing with a flail.
    Martin Ducy, of Kylanna near Clonakenny, was a great walker. On one occasion, he walked from Dublin to the village of Clonakenny, and put a set of his shoes on a horse before he ate his dinner.
    William Brenton, who lived in the district, could drink a gallon jar of porter without once taking it off his head.
    Seán Ó Maher who lived in Killough, about half a mile west of the village of Clonakenny, was a noted faction fighter
    "Conny" Ducy of Kylanna was leader of the faction which bore that name.
