    You farmers and freeholders and countrymen of mine, ¶ Come rally round till I relate the scenery we have seen

    Come rally round till I relate the scenery we have seen,
    The day we brought the horsepower from the top of sweet Gurteen,
    We left our homes that morning before the break of day ,
    We would arrive in proper time had we made no delay
    But in front of Montore castle for three long hours we stood.
    And that lies quite convenient to the cross of Longfordwood.
    When we arrived in Crimlin it was five minutes after nine,
    The bell was rung for breakfast ,
    and the men were gone to dine.
    The corn stores were nobly stocked
    as we reached there that day
    It would remind you of Bergin's mill or the malthouse of Roscrea
    When we arrived in Crimlin we had a splendid view
    We saw the spires of Nenagh town
