  1. There is a treasure hidden in the townland of Munig. It is hidden in James Cahalane's bog. It was found there about thirty years ago, by some people who were cutting turf in the bog. There were no attempts made to get it, as no person ever knew that it was hidden there. The people that were cutting the turf found it, it was in a cask the treasure was and inside the cask was a purse and it was tied with a shoe- lace and the gold was inside in it.
