  1. Long ago the houses were very small thatched houses. The houses were thatched with rushes and straw. the rushes grew wild on the land. On the right hand side of the fire in every house there was a bed and the old people called it "Cáilleac". Earthen floors was what the people had long ago. Half doors were very common and when a[?] good dancer came into a house they took down the half door and let him dance on it
