Local Marriages.
Shrove is the time of the year people generally get married.
If a couple were going to get married they used to go to the priest's house to get married. They used to have a wedding at the man's house.
The bride's parents used to give cows or horses for a fortune to the man.
The man used to wear a frock coat, and knicker-bocker breeches and a caroline hat.
The women used to wear a white cap, a paisley shawl and a skirt with flounces and hoops.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
