  1. There were no schools in olden times. The kind of schools in olden times they had were hedge schools. The teachers used to teach out under a hedge or in a barn, they teach the children one by one.
    The children had no ink they used to write with slate pencils and slates. They were taught Arithmetic Euclid and algebra and I have heard that the lads in Ireland used to go school masters every night
