    The 2 curls prevented ring from coming out.
    Home-made pig-rings were made out of hair-pins. The two ends of a hair-pin were flattened out & forced thro' pig's nose & the 2 points curled.

  2. Tar Kilns in parish - one at back of Meelick N. S. in Stonepark, the other at the Bleach. A third, belonging to Griffins, in Woodcock Hill.
    The one at back of school was built by landlord (Marquis of Conyngham). Each tenant burned his own lime as required.
