  1. Carried on in Connagh, which is a wing of parish on Shannon bank. Salmon & peale fishing. Peale run later in the season than salmon - just when salmon season is over. They are fairly big - general run about 5 or 6 lbs, but some up to 8 or 10 lbs.
    It was all net-fishing in Coonagh. Nets & boats are supplied by Limerick fish-merchants, who retained so much out of each week's fish money till debt was paid. They also advanced money for licence. Fishing was a Coonagh industry from time immemorial, but is no long generally practiced since Shannon Scheme, as fish supply was very small.
