Near the castle the bailiff came to agate On trying it he found it was locked. In his haste he tried to climb across it. The man fired and shot the bailiff dead as he was crossing the gate. There was no main road then and the road to Bailieboro went round past the castle. One day a young boy was driving a donkey to town. He went to pull a stick to drive his donkey. Lady Lisgar had him hung to a bush in front of the Castle. The boys mother cursed her and prayed that she might never have an heir to her property. Every curse fell on her. She had no heir to her property. Her castle fell into catholic hands. There was a blood stain on the hall door which could not be removed. A bird never sang over the lawn. The castle was burned . Some of it was rebuilt. But the Christian brothers got it. She never had any luck because of her cruelty.
