It is usually a three legged stool that is used to sit on, when the cows are being milked. If the cows are kickers they are spanceled with a piece of rope, the two hind legs are tied together and then they cannot move their legs. When the cows are being milked the person milks about half a cup and wets the teats with it. It is then thrown out. It is proper to take an equal amount of milk out of each teat at the time, for if you milked two teats out, it would destroy the cow. People sing for the cow when they are milking her, as it keeps her quiet and it is easier to milk her. - Faisnéiseoir
