At a meeting of the clergymen that night who were refused admission within the lines, the following resolution was adopted----
"Resolved, that we the under-signed priests of Clare present to-day at the evictions at the Vandeleur estate, protest in the strongest manner against the insults offered to us and the injustice inflicted on the tenants in excluding us, the trusted guides of the people from the inner circle to which free admission was given to the representatives of the evicted and the enemies of the people".
The resolution was signed by the Very Rev. Dr. Dinan. PP. V.G., and 15 other clergy.
